The Los Angeles Business Journal recognized partner Samuel Maizel as one of the Top 100 Lawyers of Los Angeles for 2023. Maizel was selected for this prestigious award due to his nationally recognized experience helping clients navigate restructuring and bankruptcy matters, particularly within the healthcare market.

Maizel focuses his practice on bankruptcy matters as well as financial restructurings, in- and out-of-court, involving a broad spectrum of industries. In the past year, Maizel has co-led the representation of Borrego Community Health Foundation, a federally qualified healthcare center (FQHC) consisting of 18 clinics and related facilities in Southern California after it was forced into Chapter 11 by a threatened suspension of Medi-Cal payments. Maizel and his team executed an innovative strategy that resulted in a bankruptcy court stopping the suspension and culminated in the court's approval of a comprehensive settlement and sale of the clinics to another FQHC at a price likely to pay Borrego’s creditors in full. Additionally, Maizel is currently co-leading the representation of a national durable medical equipment supplier in its Chapter 11 case, a national grain warehouse and agricultural supplier in its Chapter 11 case and wrapping up the representation of a national mortgage lender from its Chapter 11 case.
