Science under the Scope: Should We Test Asymptomatic Individuals?

Early in the outbreak, when testing resources were highly constrained, the US opted to test only symptomatic individuals. At the time, however, some scientists argued that the limited testing resources would be better used on asymptomatic individuals. They argued because asymptomatic individuals represented so high a percentage of all cases, randomized testing of the general population would better control the spread of the virus.
