Casablanca—Dentons Morocco has advised Lesaffre, a global player in yeasts and fermentation, on the acquisition of a majority stake in Rayen Food Industries, a Tunisian company specializing in the production of baker’s yeast in Tunisia.
Lesaffre is a multi-national group founded in France in 1853 and now present in 45 countries. The company designs, manufactures and markets innovative solutions for baking, food taste and pleasure, healthcare and biotechnology. This acquisition will strengthen Lesaffre’s presence on the African continent. Already present in North Africa for more than 60 years, Lesaffre now has three yeast production sites (Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt) and one bread improvers unit (Algeria).
Rayen Food Industries' factory is located in Jendouba, in northern Tunisia, and produces fresh baker’s yeast for the Tunisian market and dry yeast for exportation.
The team advising Lesaffre was led by Dentons Morocco partner Christophe Simonnet.
