Muscat—Dentons partner Sadaf Buchanan was named "Oman Woman of the Year in Legal Services" at the Oman Woman of the Year Awards 2018, which were organised by Muscat Daily newspaper. The awards, held on 6 March 2018, recognised the outstanding achievements of 23 women who have made a difference in fields as diverse as technology, medicine, law, arts, education and sports, to name a few.

Sadaf leads Dentons' top-ranked Banking and Finance practice in Oman, and is also Co-head of the Middle East Banking and Finance practice across the region. She has practised as a lawyer for almost 20 years internationally in the areas of restructuring and insolvency, banking and finance and, in recent years, has also advised on a number of the landmark debt capital markets transactions from the Sultanate. 

Sadaf co-founded Sayyidaat Dentons, the Middle East chapter of Dentons' professional women's network which launched in 2014, and has worked on a number of campaigns and with mentoring organisations internationally to promote greater gender balance and encourage corporations to harness the benefits of inclusive leadership practices.

Speaking about the awards Sadaf said, "I am honoured and humbled to receive this award and to even be standing alongside the other talented recipients who are so highly accomplished in their respective fields. Whilst the award is given to an individual, it would be inconceivable without the support and hard work of the wonderful team of women and men I work alongside in Oman and beyond."
