Dentons is proud to announce that Brian Summers, Partner in the Firm’s Restructuring, Insolvency and Bankruptcy group, has been appointed as a Master in Chambers of the Alberta Court of Queen’s Bench.

His intelligence, strong work ethic and patience will make him an exceptional Master.”

Brian joined Dentons (formerly Milner & Steer) in 1983 and became a partner four years later. He has been recognized by The Best Lawyers in Canada as one of Canada’s leading lawyers in insolvency and financial restructuring law from 2009 – 2020, and received a Distinguished BV Peer Review Rating from Martindale-Hubbell.

During his years of practice, Brian provided skillful counsel to clients on various complex commercial litigation matters, with particular emphasis on restructuring, insolvency, bankruptcy and partnership and close corporation disputes.

An active member of the community, Brian has devoted a number of years volunteering with the Edmonton Community Legal Centre, including as a Director, and Chair of its Board. As part of his steadfast commitment to access to justice, Brian dedicated significant time with the Civil Claims Duty Counsel project in the Provincial Court of Alberta, as well as the Amicus program at the Court of Queen’s Bench. Brian has also volunteered as legal counsel for the Boards of Directors of the Edmonton Symphony Society and the Francis Winspear Centre for Music.
