Toronto—Dentons has appointed partner Ryan Middleton as practice group lead of its Banking & Finance group in Toronto. 

Having been a partner at Dentons since 2014, Ryan provides counsel to international and domestic lenders and borrowers in all areas of debt financing transactions, including all types of technology financing, syndicated financings, acquisition financings, bond financings, real estate financings, asset-based lending, securitizations, project finance and subordinated/mezzanine financings.

He also frequently advises international insurers, brokers and insureds in the use and negotiation of representation and warranty insurance in various corporate transactions. 

Ryan was recently recognized in The Best Lawyers in Canada 2021 for Banking and Finance Law and has a strong knowledge of fintech, blockchain and distributed ledger technology, recently running a video series on how blockchain can be utilized by businesses and being awarded a Certificate in Blockchains, Smart Contracts and the Law from Osgoode Hall Law School.

Ryan’s previous career in international business enables him to provide his clients with advice which is pragmatic, forward-thinking and comprehensive.
