Katherine Anderegg joins the litigation division primarily working the insurance defense department. Clients working with Katie can expect prompt communication, accurate analysis, and thoughtful advice relating to strategy and tactics. Katie previously practiced at the Bradshaw firm in Des Moines. Katie graduated with high honors from Drake University Law School in 2017 where she served as philanthropy co-chair of Drake Law Women. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in communications studies from the University of Iowa

Joel Aschbrenner joins the business division after clerking with the firm for two summers. Joel worked as a journalist for several years including at the Des Moines Register where he covered real estate, development, downtown Des Moines, and the Des Moines Airport among other areas. Joel graduated with highest honors from Drake University Law School in 2020 and from Kansas State University in 2010. He currently serves on the Des Moines Water Works Board of Trustees and previously served on the Des Moines Historic Preservation Commission.

Michael Kaufmann joins the litigation division to practice in business, commercial, and construction litigation. He represents construction and design firms in matters relating to construction defect and mechanic’s lien litigation. Mike is relocating to Des Moines from Cedar Rapids where he practiced at Simmons Perrine and served on the Board of Directors of Big Brothers, Big Sisters. He is involved with Master Builders of Iowa, the Iowa Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, and the Des Moines Downtown Chamber of Commerce. Mike is a graduate of the University of Iowa College of Law and Iowa State University.
