On March 12, 2024, the Ministry of the Interior (MINT) approved Ministerial Agreement No. 05-2024, establishing the "Regulation for the Control of Producers, Promoters, and Organizers of Public Artistic Activities, Events, or Shows."

Previously, the entertainment industry in Nicaragua operated without regulation. On March, 2024, a regulatory framework was approved applicable for individuals and legal entities involved in this industry. This is made possible through the creation of the Registry of Producers, Promoters, and Organizers of Public Artistic Activities, Events, and Shows, under the supervision of the Ministry of the Interior.

In Nicaragua , as artistic events flourish, benefiting our economy , this regulation can prove beneficial for all involved parties. Artistic events not only provide entertainment and cultural enrichment but also have a significant impact on various economic sectors in Nicaragua, ranging from the hospitality and tourism industry to local gastronomy and retail, each event representing an opportunity to foster the country's growth and prosperity.

This regulation applies to both individuals and legal entities, whether national or foreign, engaged in the production, promotion, and organization of public artistic activities, events, and shows. Registration is mandatory, and there is no cost associated with it.

The MINT is the competent authority for issuing registration certificates to registered entities. To carry out the registration in the registry, the following must be submitted: the Registration Application, a valid Unique Taxpayer Registry (RUC) ID, and a valid Registration with Solvency before the Municipality, in addition to meeting the list of requirements established by the regulations depending on the type of person:

• For Nationals or Foreign Individuals
• For Nicaraguan Legal Entities
• For Foreign Legal Entities

The regulation also mandates informing the Ministry of the Interior about any planned activity, event, or show at least 30 days in advance to obtain the corresponding authorization certificate for any public activity or show to be held in Nicaraguan territory.

To obtain this certificate, the following requirements must be fulfilled:

• Permission from the National Police.
• Certificate from the General Directorate of Firefighters of Nicaragua.
• Submission of documents proving compliance with obligations to the General Directorate of Revenues, General Directorate of Customs Services, and the corresponding Municipality.
• Authorization from the Directorate General of Migration and Foreigners regarding the entry of foreign nationals into the country.
