Covid-19 and judicial activities: "Phase II" ends on June 30, 2020 (in Italian)

30/06/2020 - The amendments implemented in Law-Decree no. 28/2020, as converted in Law on June 25, 2020, anticipated the end of the restrictive measures imposed by the Government to the undertaking of judicial activities during the so-called “Phase II”. Such period of time was meant to last until July 31, 2020, but by virtue of the aforementioned amendments it will now end on June 30.

COVID-19 and its impact on the civil justice system

16/04/2020 - Hearings and procedural deadlines are suspended until May 11 under the latest Legislative Decree no. 23/2020 (the so-called “Decreto Liquidità”). Hearings which are already scheduled to take place between May 12 and June 30 will instead be either rescheduled or held in an innovative manner.

12/03/2020 - The emergency caused by the COVID-19’s spread on Italian area is producing significant effects also on the administrative judicial system and, in this respect, the Italian Government is adopting several measures aimed at balancing the mandatory compliance with the sanitary directives (taking into account the health of lawyers and parties) with the interests (including the public interests) owned by the parties involved. The impact of COVID-19 emergency on the judicial system (in Italian)

09/03/2020 - The article describes the new urgent measures introduced by Law Decree of March 8, 2020, n. 11 to contain the spread of COVID-19 and its side effects on Italian judicial activity. The provisions of the legal decree apply to all criminal, civil and administrative proceedings pending before the Italian courts for the period from March 9, 2020, until May 31, 2020. In a nutshell, the law decree suspends all ongoing proceedings, with some exceptions, until March 22, 2020, and for the following period until May 31, 2020, authorizes the heads of judicial offices to postpone hearings and take other measures they deem necessary.
