Jan M. Vernon is counsel in Dentons' Honolulu office. Her practice is primarily focused on defending hospitals, physicians, dentists, nurses and other health care providers against malpractice claims. As a registered nurse and nationally certified neonatal nurse practitioner, she is uniquely qualified to collaborate with her clients and guide them through the stressful litigation process. 

Jan also counsels health care clients in the areas of medical risk management, credentialing, peer review, health care quality improvement issues, medical records management and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) concerns. In addition, she frequently lectures and provides training seminars on a variety of medical/legal topics, such as patient communication and charting, health care decision-making for incapacitated patients and minors, informed consent and apologizing for medical errors.
