Robin qualified as an attorney in 1997. He is the Managing Partner of Dentons Mauritius where he heads the Banking, Corporate Finance and Commercial practices in both litigation and transactions/advisory. He is also the Dentons Regional Lead for the Banking and Finance Practice group for Africa region.

Since early 1990s, Mauritius has developed into a sophisticated financial center and operates as a gateway to Asia and Africa for investors from the United States and Europe going into these regions. As such, Mauritius has become a preferred jurisdiction of incorporation, regional domiciliation and operation for investments into energy, infrastructure, healthcare, hospitality, real estate, entertainment as well as information, technology and communications going into Africa and Asia.

Robin specializes in securities regulations and laws related to banking, insolvency, corporate finance and cross-border investments, mainly in private debts, real estate and infrastructure. He also has a special interest for international complex litigation and arbitration. Robin has been involved in hundreds of international business transactions involving listed and major companies worldwide, operating in the United States, United Kingdom, European Union, Asia and Africa; these transactions pertain to investments, mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, leverage buyouts, shareholder disputes settlements amongst others. He has also advised on take overs, both hostile and friendly, listing and delisting of companies worldwide.

Robin is particularly known for his cross-border credentials; he regularly acts as lead adviser on transactions in several financial centers as well as lead litigator in cross border disputes, acting together with local counsel in the relevant jurisdictions. His practice brings him to New York, Dubai and the French Riviera-Cote d’Azur region every month.

Robin has acted in several international human rights cases on a pro bono basis. His clients include the indigenous people of the Chagos Islands in litigation against the UK and US Governments for their forcible removal from their islands to make place for the U.S/U.K military base in Diego Garcia; Robin has also acted for the Masai people in Tanzania in their efforts to resist relocation further to a controversial hunting lease agreement granted on Masai land to a powerful middle-eastern conglomerate. He has also led several legal initiatives to render accountable the former Sri Lankan governments’ officials for war crimes. Robin is known for his ability to form and lead groups of international lawyers in impact litigation worldwide. Robin has credited his successful career as an international business transactions lawyer for his ability to undertake and conduct so many international human rights initiatives pro bono.
