Four Dentons lawyers – Tjibbe Douma, Anna Gulińska, Jacek Jezierski and Nicoleta Tuominen, were awarded at Euromoney Legal Media Group’s inaugural Europe Rising Stars Awards 2019. Ceren Su, a lawyer at Balcıoğlu Selçuk Akman Keki Avukatlık Ortaklığı (BASEAK), the Istanbul-based law firm that cooperates with Dentons in Turkey, also won an award.  

The awards recognize promising lawyers under the age of 40 across 19 European countries and 20 practice areas. The award ceremony took place on November 7, 2019 at The Bvlgari Hotel in London. 

Partner Tjibbe Douma, who leads the Patents practice in Amsterdam, was awarded in the “Rising Star: Intellectual Property” category. He joined Dentons in 2019 to strengthen the Intellectual Property and Technology and Life Sciences practices in the Netherlands. He has extensive experience in litigation and arbitration, including high-end multi-jurisdictional patent disputes. He also advises on IP strategy, structures and contracts. 

Counsel Anna Gulińska and Jacek Jezierski from Dentons’ Warsaw office were both recognized as Rising Stars in Poland. Anna Gulińska, a counsel in the Competition and Antitrust practice, focuses on Polish and EU competition law, including antitrust, merger control, unfair commercial practices as well as consumer protection issues and competition litigation. Jacek Jezierski, a counsel in the Real Estate practice in Poland, advises domestic and international investors on real estate transactions, commercial and office lease projects, as well as assists clients in the management of real estate. 

Brussels-based counsel Nicoleta Tuominen was named “Rising Star: International Trade”. She is a well respected lawyer in the area of international trade and EU trade policy, economic sanctions and trade controls. She also has vast experience in EU litigation, EU constitutional law and competition law, including merger control, abuse of dominance, cartel investigations and state aid cases. She has represented the Council of the European Union successfully in more than 25 anti-dumping and anti-subsidies matters.

Ceren Su, a counsel in the Corporate group at BASEAK, was named “Rising Star: Turkey”. She focuses on corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, and real estate transactions, with a special focus on the energy, financial institutions, infrastructure and PPP, life sciences, real estate and transportation sectors.
