London—Dentons has signed up to the Mindful Business Charter, joining 20 other signatories across multiple industries and reinforcing the firm's commitment to developing better working practices with respect to mental health and wellbeing.

The Mindful Business Charter is a movement of organisations collaborating together to change the way they work with each other and internally to foster better working practices for mental health and wellbeing. The Charter promotes openness and respect, smart meetings and emails, respecting rest periods, and mindful delegation. The goal is to change working practices to avoid stress that can affect employees' mental health and wellbeing, while also improving effective working and productivity. The Charter is supported by mental health charity Mind, the Law Society, Law Care and the Solicitors Regulatory Authority.

Earlier this year, Dentons launched the NextMind programme, a cornerstone of Dentons’ global NextTalent programme to develop greater emotional intelligence and resilience among its people worldwide. Participants in the NextMind pilot programme reported a reduction in stress of almost one-third, a 75% improvement in social wellbeing, and an 18% improvement in emotional wellbeing. Dentons has also appointed its first Europe Chief Mindfulness Officer, Karina Furga-Dąbrowska, who will work with the talent team and mindfulness ambassadors to roll the NextMind programme more widely across the Firm.
