The Ministry of Economy invited civil society to participate in working groups, which seeks to set up a regulatory sandbox for the development of Artificial Intelligence. As Dentons Larraín Rencoret, we joined to this very important challenge, with the participation of Carolina del Río, Mercedes Londoño, and Enrique Benítez, partners of the firm, in this initiative.

Based on the principles established by the OECD on Artificial Intelligence, these groups will have four sessions to lay the foundations for this sandbox. Carolina del Río, a partner in the intellectual property area, explains that "Clearly there is a lack of regulation, but it is necessary to take into account minimum ethical principles, such as avoiding discriminatory biases, to start regulating." On the other hand, Mercedes Londoño, also a partner in the area, is looking forward to the results of this work: "The first two sessions are more about context, but the last two will focus on the development of the sandbox itself."

The sessions are held remotely. The participants are assigned to different groups, where they debate and seek consensus on specific issues. In the first session, the topic to discuss was the relevant ecosystem for the sandbox. The debate and conclusions are included in a report later.

The last session is scheduled for November 26. As Dentons Larraín Rencoret, we are committed to contributing to this important regulatory milestone for developing Artificial Intelligence in the country.
