Kyiv—Maksym Sysoiev, a partner in Dentons’ Kyiv office, was elected as a board member of the Bioenergy Association of Ukraine (UABio). In this role, he will help the other members of the board understand the legal aspects of supporting bioenergy projects.

Maksym Sysoiev has nearly 16 years’ experience in the energy, oil and gas, and agriculture industries. He regularly advises foreign and local companies with respect to both regulatory issues and transactions and represents their interests before Ukrainian State authorities. He is recognized as a leading lawyer in the energy sector and has considerable experience in both conventional and renewable energy.

Recently, Maksym led the team that advised Dionis Biogas Energy on the implementation of the first biomethane project in Ukraine, representing an important milestone in the creation of a bioenergy ecosystem in the country (please read press release for more details). He also advised the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development on regulatory issues related to the export of biomethane from Ukraine (please read press release for more details).

The UABio is a platform for cooperation in the Ukrainian bioenergy market, which seeks to create favorable business conditions in order to help accelerate and sustainably develop bioenergy in Ukraine.
