Sectoral inspections are underway!

January is the time for the UODO to announce sectoral controls. This year, they will cover banks, bodies that process personal data in the Schengen Information System and Visa Information System, and entities that process personal data using mobile applications.

Does this mean that other sectors will be outside the UODO's area of interest?

The list of sectoral controls announced by UODO should not be treated as an unchangeable and closed catalog. The impulse to modify the UODO's plans may come from complaints as well as information coming from the media indicating a breach of data protection regulations. UODO may also start a control in the event of receiving one-off complaints indicating an activity in breach of the GDPR. In view of the above, it is a good idea to subject your organization to regular compliance audits.
