Dentons Canada LLP (Dentons Canada) will be honored with the 2013 Pro Bono Project Award from Pro Bono Law Alberta (PBLA) for spearheading the Civil Claims Duty Counsel (CCDC) in Edmonton. Given annually to the law firms or individuals who have contributed most to the cause of enhancing Albertans’ access to justice, the 2013 award will be jointly awarded to Dentons and Miller Thomson for their combined efforts on the CCDC project. Since its inception, the CCDC project has attracted eleven Edmonton firms that are now actively participating and nearly 300 lawyers and students from Edmonton and Calgary have volunteered time to help unrepresented litigants in the provincial court system. The award will be presented to Dentons Canada at the PBLA Annual Celebration on June 19, 2013, in the Ledcor Theatre in the Art Gallery of Alberta in Edmonton.
