Dubai—Dentons' Middle East Banking and Finance team has continued to receive recognition for its outstanding work in the region, having recently received five deal of the year awards, and being awarded Best Law Firm for our practices' in Oman and Jordan.

Dentons advised on the following four winning deals at the IFN Awards Deals of the Year 2016 held on 28th February:

• Sovereign Deal of the Year was awarded to the Jordanian Company for the Islamic Sukuk for financing government projects. Dentons advised ICD in connection with the Government of Jordan's first sovereign sukuk issuance in Jordan. The team was lead by Alex Roussos (Dubai) and Safwan Moubaydeen (Amman)
• Kuwait Deal of the Year was awarded to Boubyan Bank, Kuwait for the US$250 million perpetual Tier 1 Sukuk. Dentons advised Boubyan bank as the obligor on the world's first public fully Basel III-compliant Tier 1 Sukuk. The team was led by partner Alex Roussos (Dubai); 
• Oman Deal of the Year was awarded to Mohammed Al Barwani Sukuk Issue S.A.O.C., who Dentons advised, on the landmark issuance of a US$76 million Dual Tranche Sukuk. The Dentons team was led by principally Sadaf Buchanan (Muscat) and Alex Roussos (Dubai) with a number of other teams supporting; and 
• Turkey Deal of the Year was award to Delivery Hero acquisition of Yemeksepeti. BASEAK and Dentons advised the sellers. The team was led by Galip Selcuk (Istanbul).

At the EMEA Finance Middle East Banking Awards 2016 held on 1st March, partner and head of Dentons Jordan office, Safwan Moubaydeen, and head of the banking and finance practice in Oman, Sadaf Buchanan, collected the awards for Law Firm of the Year for Jordan and Law Firm of the Year for Oman.

The EMEA Finance Achievement Awards 2016 also awarded the Best structured finance deal in the Middle East Alia - The Royal Jordanian Airlines for the US$275 million syndicated conventional Shari’ah-compliant senior secured term loan facility. Dentons advised the joint lead managers, Mashreqbank. The team was led by partners Neil Cuthbert (Dubai) and Safwan Moubaydeen (Amman). The awards are expected to be held later this year.
