Tashkent—Global law firm Dentons has advised Gloria Jean’s Coffees, the international specialty coffeehouse operator, on its market entry into Uzbekistan. Gloria Jean’s Coffees will open in Uzbekistan in autumn 2018 and will be the first-ever global coffee franchise to operate in the country.

Senior Associate Ulugbek Abdullaev, based in Dentons’ Tashkent office, advised RFGA Management Pty Ltd, the brand owner, on concluding the master franchise agreement with the master franchisee in Uzbekistan, as well as on general Uzbek law issues.

Gloria Jean’s Coffees operates 1,000 coffee houses across 39 markets worldwide. The company was founded in 1979 in Chicago as a small coffee and gift shop. Through its franchise model, it has grown into one of the largest international coffee shop chains with a strong presence in Australia, US, UK, Germany, Spain, Russia, Kazakhstan and many other countries. The actual brand owner is RFGA Management Pty Ltd.
