Mauritius Senior Partner Priscilla Balgobin-Bhoyrul was recently re-elected for another year on the board of Global Finance Mauritius ("GFM").  Priscilla's practice focuses on corporate, finance and tax law. This appointment means Dentons is better placed than any other firm in the region, to service clients with investments in (or moving through) Mauritius.

GFM, founded in 2010, is a representative body that brings together leading players in the Financial Sector of Mauritius, comprising of banks, management companies, accounting firms, law firms and institutional investors, the Stock Exchange of Mauritius (SEM) and all other licensees of the Financial Services Commission (FSC).

The main goals of GFM, to name a few, are:

• to develop Mauritius as an International Financial Centre of substance;
• to provide a forum for financial services providers to discuss matters of general concern; and
• to undertake research and make recommendations to the Government and authorities to promote better understanding and to improve the legal framework in Mauritius.

Last week, GFM hosted its Fifth Annual Meeting, accompanied by a panel discussion on ‘Mauritius as a Private Wealth Structuring Jurisdiction’ and presentation by Goldman Sachs International.
