We are pleased to announce that Dentons’ Giangiacomo Olivi has been included in the group of experts appointed by Italy’s Ministry of Economic Development to draft the national strategy on Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Together with the group of experts on AI, the Ministry has also created a group of experts to address Blockchain. The Ministry considers it a crucial priority for Italy to deepen the knowledge of the DLTs and the blockchain and the related juridical issues and to boost public and private investments in related technologies.

Giangiacomo Olivi commented: “The commission will define better its goals during next working sessions. In any case, we need to delineate a strategy to promote the conscious development of Artificial Intelligence. Artificial Intelligence is a paradigm shift that will involve all sectors. In order to reap the benefits of Artificial Intelligence, a coherent regulatory framework is necessary, that takes into account the European and international context, maintaining full respect for fundamental rights as well as an awareness of the border between ethics and law, without posing as an obstacle to ‘innovation’.”
