On October 22, 2020, the government of Costa Rica announced the elimination of the PCR test ( this test determines the presence of SARS CoV-2, which produces COVID-19) requirement for travelers, as of October 26, 2020.

Travelers may only enter through air borders; land borders will continue to be closed.

The entry of travelers to Costa Rica from these countries will have several mandatory requirements:

1. Completing the health pass, available in different languages.
2. Obtaining travel insurance that covers quarantine accommodation and medical expenses for acute illness.
3. If the traveler has a restricted nationality, they will require a visa to enter Costa Rica (valid US, EU, or Canadian visas are acceptable).

If a traveler does not meet these requirements, they will not be able to travel to Costa Rica.
