In this 50 minute session, we provided an overview on recent developments in industrial/labor relations in Canada and the United States. Our speakers gave a general perspective into the current climate at the relevant Canadian and US labor authorities; discussed the US National Labor Relations Board’s (NLRB) ruling in McLaren Macomb regarding severance agreements and other similar employment documents and how it compares to the Canadian approach; provided a comparison of successor liability for represented employees; and highlighted the Canadian and US approaches to companies attempting to combine multiple bargaining units at a facility.
