The Trump administration imposed 25% tariffs on most Canadian and Mexican origin goods effective March 4 at 12:01 a.m. eastern time, ending the 30-day pause on tariffs. Canada has responded with 25% retaliatory tariffs on $30 billion worth of U.S.-origin goods, with an additional 25% tariff on $125 billion worth of U.S.-origin goods set to take effect in 21 days. Additionally, Canadian provinces have announced a flurry of measures against US goods and services. Mexico is expected to announce its own tariffs within days. President Trump has already threatened to escalate tariffs even more in response Canadian and Mexican measures.
