Toronto—For the fourth consecutive year, Dentons Canada LLP has been named one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers, highlighting the firm’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Dentons was chosen by Mediacorp Canada Inc., a Toronto-based publisher of employment-related periodicals, together consultants from TWI Inc., as one of Canada's Best Diversity Employers for 2014 based on its workplace diversity and inclusion programs. The selection criteria addresses five major employee groups: women, members of visible minorities, persons with disabilities, aboriginal peoples and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered/transsexual individuals. 

In 2006, Dentons Canada (formerly Fraser Milner Casgrain LLP) instituted a formal strategy to create and maintain a firm-wide culture of inclusion.  The initiative encourages firm members to embrace their skills, talents and differences so they can achieve greater success in the workplace for themselves and clients. 

Dentons is a proud partner and sponsor for numerous community-driven diversity and inclusion events and initiatives. The firm is recognized for this award due in part to its many programs, for example: 

• Dentons has partnered with 15 other law firms across Canada to form the Law Firm Diversity & Inclusion Network. All members signed the statement of principles. The network aim to share ideas and work together to promote diversity and encourage a culture of inclusion in their firms and the legal professional generally, to attract and retain the best talent, and best serve their clients.
• In partnership with Imperial Oil, Dentons launched an International Trained Lawyer Articling program, which provides an articling position for an internationally born, internationally trained lawyer. The candidate will spend six months with Dentons and six months in the legal department at Imperial Oil.
• In affiliation with the Toronto Community Housing Corporation (TCHC), Dentons manages a national post-secondary scholarship Investing in Diversity for youth leaders active in issues surrounding diversity, equity and anti-racism.
