Dentons, the world’s largest law firm, announces today that partner Michelle Stark Kaufman has been named to Ingram’s 2020 class of Women Executives-Kansas City (WeKC). Kaufman, resident in the Kansas City office, is a member of the Firm’s Health Care and Corporate practices.

Ingram’s WeKC award honors women who have demonstrated the qualities of positive executive leadership for their organizations and made significant contributions to the Kansas City region overall. Only twelve women are selected each year. They have taken the time to care for their clients, teams and families—a balancing act that requires focus, commitment and planning skills.

With over 30 years of Big Law experience, Kaufman has earned a name for herself in corporate and health care law through steadfast client service and living by the principles of hard work, community leadership and high personal and professional standards. She provides day-to-day legal advice to business clients and assists with transactions and contracts. She works extensively with clients in the health care industry and represents individuals and institutional health care providers in their business relationships, organizational issues, managed care contracting and compliance with health care regulations.

Earlier this year, Best Lawyers in America named Kaufman its 2020 Lawyer of the Year for health care law in Kansas City. This peer-selected honor is given to just one lawyer in each practice area and community each year. Kaufman is a trusted counselor for her clients, handling some of their most complex contractual arrangements and guiding them through an ever-changing legal landscape.

Kaufman’s professional recognition is equaled by her reputation for supporting her community. She is a prominent figure in the Kansas City health care and business community, having served on the board of directors and executive committee of Kansas City Hospice, the largest hospice in the community, as chairperson of the board of the Family Conservancy, and as an officer and member of the City Fountains Foundation’s board of directors. She serves as one of seven members appointed by the Mayor of Kansas City to the city’s Municipal Officials and Officers Ethics Commission. She is also active in the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, becoming the first woman to chair its membership committee, the Chairman's Club, and earning induction into the Chairman's Club Hall of Fame.
