Pursuant to Royal Decree 6/2022 promulgating the Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL), Oman's first dedicated data protection law, the Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (Ministry) has issued the Executive Regulations to the PDPL under Ministerial Decision 34/2024 (Executive Regulations), which we considered in our previous article "Executive Regulations on the Oman Personal Data Protection Law".

The Executive Regulations, which came into force on 5 February 2024, provide guidance on how personal data should be processed and managed in Oman. The grace period for compliance was initially supposed to end by 5 February 2025 but has been extended for another year by Ministerial Decision 6/2025, to 5 February 2026.
