The 2022 Trade Americas, U.S. - Central America Trade Mission and Business Conference took place from August 18 to 23 in San José, Costa Rica, and focused on region-specific sessions, market entry strategies, export compliance, legal, logistics, disaster resilience and recovery and trade financing resources.

This program offers U.S. companies the opportunity to explore six markets in the Central America Region: Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Panama through U.S. business delegates networked and engaged in face-to-face meetings with distributors, sales representatives, and other prospective partners.

The participants who attended the Trade Americas conference received customized business-to-business matchmaking appointments in one or two countries with pre-screened potential buyers, agents, distributors, or joint venture partners that provided strategies for expanding their business across the region.

Under Secretary Lago explain the past days: “Central America is home to crucial export markets that offer immense opportunities for U.S. businesses and workers across industries” she also said “This trade mission provided unparalleled opportunities for U.S. businesses to better understand key Central American markets as they seek to grow their exports to the region. I look forward to seeing the results of our delegates’ hard work”.

In this occasion, our Central America Chairman and Managing Partner, José Antonio Muñoz had the opportunity to participate in this conference and talk about the way we interact with the world, the aftermath of the pandemic and other worldwide events like the war in the Ukraine and the populist alignment of governments in the larger Region.

He emphasized the relevance of the challenges that we face as a region: infrastructure, bureaucracy, corruption, education, lack of regionalization, attracting investment and technology, teaching workers new skills and enhancing management capacity. José Antonio also discussed the opportunities in labor arbitrage, simplification of trade, regional networks of manufactures ports, logistics, service providers and ESG.
