The report ranks the 100 best law firms, attorneys and companies by their inter partes review (IPR) activity and performance based on an analysis of IPRs filed. Dentons’ U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) Post-Grant Proceedings group is co-led by Greenleaf and Washington, DC partner Scott Cummings. Greenleaf, a technically trained computer engineer has significant experience with patent office proceedings, focusing on post-grant proceedings such as IPR. He also has a long track record with trials under the America Invents Act (AIA), covered business method (CBM) patent reviews and post-grant reviews, as well as experience with prosecution. Greenleaf manages teams conducting IPRs and works closely with technically trained patent lawyers and litigators in Dentons' Intellectual Property and Technology (IPT) practice.

Cummings has an established track record of achieving positive results for clients in representations before the USPTO in ex parte and inter partes patent office proceedings, and in federal district courts. He has extensive experience in all aspects of USPTO proceedings, including IPRs, written and oral interagency appeals, petitions, reexamination, reissue and interference proceedings. Cummings also frequently advises clients on issues involving freedom to operate, patent infringement, patent validity and design-around analyses. His knowledge of USPTO operations and procedure is augmented by his eight-year tenure as a patent examiner, including service as a primary examiner.  A registered patent lawyer, Cummings has been named an "IP Star" by Managing Intellectual Property magazine for six consecutive years.
