Washington, DC—Dentons announced today that Washington, DC partner Emma Hand was elected Vice President of the Energy Bar Association’s (EBA) 2014-15 Board of Directors.  She was voted to the position at the EBA’s Business Meeting, held this week in conjunction with the organization’s Annual Conference.  The election puts Hand on track to lead the EBA as President in three years, as the election to Vice President initiates a progression to the office.

Hand is a foundational partner in the development of Dentons' award-winning federal and state Public Policy and Regulation practice.  She is also an active member of the firm’s Energy practice, focused on advising public power entities, municipalities, large energy customers and load-serving entities regarding energy law in both regulatory and litigation settings.  She plays an essential role on teams representing signature clients such as the city of New Orleans, the Municipal Electric Utility Association of New York, Ormet Primary Aluminum Corporation and many others.  Hand also sits on the firm’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee.

Hand is highly-regarded by her peers and is a notable thought leader in the energy sector.  Most recently, she presented at the Environmental Law Institute’s Eastern Boot Camp 2013 on "Energy Law for Environmental Professionals."

Prior to her appointment as Vice President of the EBA, Hand served as Assistant Secretary and Secretary consecutively since 2009.  She sits on the Board of Directors of the Charitable Foundation of the Energy Bar Association (CFEBA), which supports energy-related charitable and community service projects. Hand is also on the Board of Directors of the Foundation of the Energy Law Journal (FELJ), created to commission salient, scholarly legal work on all facets of energy law for publication.
