Montréal—Ilan Dunsky, Lampros Stougiannos and Maria Kourelis in Montréal recently advised Cofely Services in respect of its participation in the Michigan Freeway Lighting P3 project - Michigan’s first public-private partnership (P3) and the first P3 in the U.S. dedicated to freeway lighting. The US$123 million P3 contract was awarded to Freeway Lighting Partners, LLC (FLP) to design, construct, finance, operate and maintain freeway lights in Detroit’s tri-county area. The FLP team consisted of Star America Infrastructure and Aldridge Electric, with Cofely Services acting as the operations and maintenance provider for the project. The innovative street lighting project will improve the existing systems operability and see that approximately 15,000 lights across bridges, tunnels and roadway within the Detroit Metro Region Freeway System be replaced with newer, more energy efficient LED lights.
