London—Dentons has advised Nordian UK, part of the Gamma group, a Spanish technological group with a strong focus on renewable energy, on the sale of its solar PV project at Wick Farm, Somerset. Nordian UK sold its shares in the project company to a leading solar developer in the latest of a series of transactions for Gamma relating to its Wick Farm projects.

Commenting on the deal, Energy partner Lucille De Silva said, "We are delighted to have advised Nordian UK on this transaction. One of the sites at Wick Farm is home to the UK's largest community solar project and with all the sites combined, Wick Farm has the capacity to produce 19 million hours of renewable electricity. Solar energy continues to be a very important part of the UK Government's commitment to cut greenhouse gases by 57 per cent by 2032, and following the EU referendum last year, many are predicting that the UK may not remain in Europe's carbon market following Brexit.  Therefore it is great to see commitment from solar companies to help the UK reach its goal by providing more renewable energy."

In addition to this latest Wick Farm deal, Dentons also advised Nordian UK and Gamma throughout 2016 on the acquisition of the Wick Farm solar PV site (originally structured as one 15MW site), separating the site into three projects –two of which are community interest projects – and on the sale of those two projects to Communities for Renewables. It is estimated that the community interest projects will generate £1.2 million for the local community organisations over a 25-year period.
