Rome/Frankfurt—Rome-based partner Alessandro Engst and Frankfurt-based partner Holger Schelling have been appointed Co-heads of the Europe Financial Institutions Regulatory group at Dentons. They will collaborate on the further development of the Financial Institutions Regulatory practice and offering across continental Europe and Central Asia. 

Alessandro Engst focuses on financial regulation, derivatives and investment funds. He has a broad range of experience advising financial institutions on financial regulatory matters (including MIFID II, CRR/CRD IV, UCITS V, EMIR, IDD, PSD2 and ELTIF regulation).  He is a recommended lawyer for Banking and Finance: Regulatory in Italy in The Legal 500 EMEA and Best Lawyers and for Finance and Investment Funds in the 2021 ranking of lawyers by Milano Finanza/Class Editori.

Holger Schelling, based in Frankfurt, advises on banking regulation, securities regulation and payment services regulation and derivatives.  He assists clients in the implementation of regulatory changes, such as MiFID II, BMR and the reform of EURIBOR and LIBOR, PSD2 and EMIR.  He has profound expertise in advising clients on innovative technology such as online payment services, robo advice and blockchain technology. He also advises on sustainable finance.
