London—Prudent deployment of limited public funds can help catalyse larger volumes of private climate investment into developing countries to support the Global Goals and their transition to low carbon, climate resilient economies. This is the goal of the UK Government’s MOBILIST programme, which facilitates the creation of products that can be listed on stock exchanges in order to catalyse private sector investment into developing countries at scale.   From an initial programme size of £90 million, FCDO has today announced an additional £66 million of UK funding to expand MOBILIST, with a focus on climate finance mobilisation.  Investors are increasingly looking for opportunities for social and environmental impact as well as financial returns. However, investors lack access to a breadth of well-diversified investment products they can invest in that deliver both market returns and measurable impact.  MOBILIST helps surface these products to enable developing countries actors to access these deep pools of capital to build sustainable infrastructure, create green jobs and drive economic growth and poverty reduction.
