Canada—Since February 2022, approximately 12.6 million Ukrainian civilians have been displaced by the war in their country, and have had to relocate in various parts of the world. To help address this problem, the Canadian non-profit organization YesHelp recently launched a secure and easy-to-use mobile app of the same name, which connects displaced Ukrainians to communities, support and volunteers worldwide.

Founded by Mark Angelo, CEO of OneIQ, a full-stack intelligence platform company located Canada, and launched in October 2022, the YesHelp app provides a safe and seamless space where Ukrainian women and children can connect with volunteers in their community to access donations, shelter, childcare, transportation, translation, pet care, and more.

A team of Dentons lawyers and students, including Matthew Literovich, Marisa Coggin, Barbara Grossman, Kenda Shaheen, and Pamela Shin provided pro bono legal guidance for this grassroots humanitarian project. “Dentons was instrumental in helping us set up YesHelp, providing invaluable guidance in corporate, contract, data privacy, housing and insurance law, among other areas,” said Mark Angelo, President of YesHelp. “Being able to go to one firm with so much talent under one umbrella, and rapidly mobilizing this talent on a time-critical humanitarian effort, made a huge difference in our ability to get YesHelp quickly off the ground.”
