Düsseldorf—With the support of global law firm Dentons, Duisburger Hafen AG (“duisport”) has sold shares in Duisport Gateway Terminal GmbH (“DGT”) through a structured bidding process to port and logistics group PSA International Pte Ltd (PSA). Following the closing of the deal, which is subject to the approval of thecompetition and regulatory authorities, the international group of shareholders will consist of Hupac, HTS, duisport and PSA. Dentons previously advised duisport on the exit of the Chinese shareholder Cosco in 2022. The Duisburg Gateway Terminal, which is being built in the Port of Duisburg, will be the largest and first 100 percent climate-neutral container terminal in the European hinterland.

Dentons also advised duisport on a joint venture with the Swiss chemical logistics company Bertschi AG to construct the first storage facility for tank containers with green energy sources and chemical products in the Port of Duisburg. The two companies have agreed to set up a joint project company for this purpose, in which Bertschi will hold 75 percent and DGT 25 percent of the shares. The warehouse, which is of high importance for the chemicals industry in North Rhine-Westphalia and the transformation of the economy towards carbon neutrality, will be built in the second construction phase of the Duisburg Gateway Terminal and will begin operations at the end of 2025.

duisport owns and operates the Port of Duisburg. Two-thirds of the company is owned by the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and one-third by the City of Duisburg.
