London—Global law firm Dentons is pleased to announce its commitment to becoming a menopause-friendly employer by signing up to the Menopause Friendly Workplace program in the UK.

Dentons has taken several steps to create a supportive environment for menopausal women in the workplace. The firm has created a Menopause policy, which outlines its commitment and investment in creating a supportive working environment, including health support, flexible working arrangements, and relevant training for managers and colleagues.

In addition, regular menopause awareness-raising events and informal drop-in sessions have been organised to create a safe space for women to discuss their experiences. Most recently, Dentons hosted four 60-minute, in-person, interactive sessions using virtual reality. Each session started with a short immersive film using VR headsets, featuring a woman sharing her own experience of the menopause, followed by discussion and reflection on the experience shared and the impact on women in the workplace.

Dentons has also trained two Menopause Mentors, Yvonne Garricks (Head of Talent Development) and Karen Peart (LDC Operations Manager), who lead Dentons' menopause committee in the UK, Ireland, and Middle East, and provide one-to-one confidential support to women going through menopause. The firm will also train additional menopause mentors based in Scotland, Ireland, and the Middle East before the end of the year. Karen Peart, LDC Operations Manager, said "I am proud to be a Menopause Mentor at Dentons and see at first hand the impact on those going through the menopause of having a safe space to discuss their experiences and being able to signpost them to the best resources."

The pledge follows the firm's announcement on its improvements towards its health and wellbeing offering in October last year. This included the launch of Peppy, a digital health app that offers its people support from expert practitioners in areas of health such as menopause, fertility, early parenthood, and men's health.
