J. Scott Sims, a shareholder in Dentons' Birmingham, Alabama office, achieved a significant milestone by being elected to a prestigious three-year term as a trustee of Kiwanis International during the 2024 Kiwanis International Convention in Denver. In his new role, he will serve as a trustee for the United States and Pacific Canada region of Kiwanis.

Sims has been a devoted member of Kiwanis since 2002, proudly representing the Kiwanis Club of Homewood-Mountain Brook in Alabama, where he notably held the position of president from 2017-18. Sims has also made significant contributions to the Alabama District of Kiwanis, serving as governor from 2021-22 and being honored with a Distinguished Governor Award. In an international capacity, Sims has been an area coordinator for North America since 2022 and chaired the Elections Committee in 2023.

Sims is a member of Dentons’ Real Estate practice and leads the Dentons Sirote Hotels and Leisure team. He is a trusted partner to business corporations, advising them on critical industry matters. Sims represents clients in various areas, including commercial real estate transactions, loan closings, general business negotiations and transactions, cell tower leasing, and title work. Additionally, Sims previously served as general counsel to the Community Bankers Association of Alabama for over a decade and is actively engaged in the representation of community banks.
