Atlanta Public Policy partner Steven Labovitz has been named a recipient of a Justice Robert Benham Award for Community Service. The Chief Justice’s Commission on Professionalism, which was created by the Supreme Court of Georgia, administers the annual awards program.

Labovitz was selected for the significant contributions he has made to the Georgia community. He focuses on government affairs at a local, state and federal level, with an emphasis on legislative action, economic development, public finance, privatization and government efficiency. Labovitz has been instrumental in working with governments and developers in creating tax incentives for large development projects, including establishing tax allocation districts, which have been utilized both in Atlanta and around Georgia. Notable projects he has been involved with include the redevelopment of downtown Atlanta’s business district, the $213 million Philips Arena (now State Farm Arena), the 138-acre Atlantic Station development, the state-of-the-art Mercedes-Benz Stadium and the Georgia Aquarium’s expansion.

Labovitz currently serves in leadership roles with Central Atlanta Progress, the Council for Quality Growth, the Georgia Early Education Alliance for Ready Students, Roots and the American Jewish Committee’s Atlanta Chapter. He is deeply involved with the Atlanta Jewish Film Festival, serving as the chair for its 25th anniversary this year. In past years, he was actively involved in the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta, the Jewish Family & Career Services and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Atlanta.
