Dentons won Turnaround Atlas Awards in two categories at the 17th annual gala, held in conjunction with the Global M&A Network’s Restructuring and Distressed Investing Forum. These prestigious, independently governed awards recognize the best value-creating transactions and outstanding professionals, firms and leaders from the global restructuring, insolvency and distressed investing communities.

The first honor, a leadership award, went to Los Angeles Restructuring, Insolvency and Bankruptcy (RIB) partner Samuel Maizel, who leads the Firm’s health care restructuring efforts nationwide. The leadership award recipients are considered influential and admired by their colleagues, clients and peers from the industry.

Additionally, Dentons received Turnaround of the Year (Small) for its representation of Curitec, LLC, a national wound care supplier, in its successful Chapter 11 reorganization in the US Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas, Houston Division. The cross-country RIB team’s reorganization plan not only paid all creditors in full and allowed equity to retain control of the business but also resolved a lengthy dispute with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid, which had suspended payments. Maizel led that team, which also included Washington, DC, partner Sam Alberts, Portland partner Andrew Helman and Houston counsel Casey Doherty.
