Located on Beacon Hill in the heart of the city, Dentons’ Boston office focuses on commercial, insurance and bankruptcy litigation. Our team has handled a wide variety of litigation matters, with particular experience in cases involving insolvent insurers, reinsurance claims, and disputes over coverage for mass tort claims. As needed, our professionals work seamlessly with colleagues across the Firm’s Litigation and Dispute Resolution and Restructuring and Insolvency practices, throughout the US and across the globe.

Some of our recent actions include:

• Addressing important child custody issues: Our lawyers filed an amicus brief with the Supreme Judicial Court of Massachusetts on behalf of the Domestic Violence Legal Empowerment and Appeals Project on the issue of whether, in a proceeding to modify a child custody arrangement contained in a divorce judgment, the judge is required to consider evidence of domestic violence that occurred before the divorce judgment. The decision in Malachi M. v. Quintina Q. will likely have a significant impact on how judges weigh evidence of past domestic violence when making decisions concerning child custody.
• Honored for pursuing justice: In recognition of our pro bono work on Boniface v. Viliena, a human rights case in Massachusetts district court, the Center for Justice & Accountability (CJA) selected Dentons as a recipient of its 2021 Partner in Justice Award. The case was filed on behalf of Haitian human rights activists who survived a campaign of violence led by a former Haitian mayor (who at the time of the suit was living in Boston) and his political supporters. The CJA described our Boston team as “remarkable partners in our pursuit of justice, going above and beyond in supporting our clients and the case in every way possible.”
