Eurozone Hub becomes the Financial Regulatory Hub Europe

Today you are receiving the first issue of our newsletter under the new brand “Financial Regulatory Hub Europe”. The new name reflects our newly expanded focus from Eurozone topics to all regulatory topics related to the EU/EEA area and the UK. 

Broadening the scope and services of our platform, our team of 2.800 professionals in 27 countries of the EU-27 and the UK will continue to provide you with concise overviews and insights regarding pan-European financial regulatory topics. 

As of July 1, 2021, the new Financial Regulatory Hub Europe will be lead by the partners Holger Schelling and Alessandro Engst, Co-heads of the Europe Financial Regulatory practice, Kai Goretzky, Head of the Europe Insurance Regulatory practice, and associate Catharina von Berg.

We would like to take the opportunity to thank Michael Huertas for his efforts in developing this platform over the past three years. He has decided to continue his career with another firm as of July 1, 2021.

Introducing the new team 

Holger Schelling, Co-Head of the Europe Financial Regulatory practice, is based in Frankfurt. He advises on banking regulation, securities regulation and payment services regulation, as well as on derivatives. He assists clients in the implementation of regulatory changes, such as MiFID II, BMR and the reform of EURIBOR and LIBOR, PSD2 and EMIR. He has profound expertise in innovative technology such as online payment services, robo advice and blockchain technology. He also advises on sustainable finance. 

Alessandro Engst, Co-Head of the Europe Financial Regulatory practice, is based in Rome. He focuses on financial institutions regulation, derivatives and investment funds. He has a broad range of experience advising on investment funds (including real estate, private equity, NPL and private debt funds), derivative transactions and financial regulatory matters (including MIFID II, CRR/CRD IV, UCITS V, EMIR, IDD, PSD2 and ELTIF regulation). 

Dr. Kai Goretzky, Frankfurt-based partner, leads the insurance section of the Financial Regulatory Hub Europe. He focuses on insurance contract law, the IDD and supervisory law, as well as the compliance issues of the insurance industry.

Dr. Catharina von Berg is an associate in Dentons’ Frankfurt office and a member of the Banking and Finance practice group.
