In our “Hard Hat Forum” sessions we invite clients and friends to participate in an interactive conversation to discuss and explore issues relevant to construction and infrastructure law. We provide breakfast to in-person guests, and the session is complimentary to all attendees.

Topic:

We are seeing signs of increased financial stress and pressure in the construction market – from supply chain and schedule challenges, including rising prices and labour/trade shortages, to unexpected insolvencies. At this session we discussed:

1. Are these signs of previously unseen structural challenges, or is this just the down cycle of business as usual?  Is the construction market changing from a financial perspective?  What are the indicators that parties should pay particular attention to?
2. What if anything can and should a party to a construction contract do differently, to minimize or mitigate new financial risks, or to survive what might be a brave new world?
