London—Dentons is pleased to announce the promotion of 10 new partners (up from six in 2014) with effect from 1 May 2015.

The appointments cover four offices in the UK, Saudi Arabia and Oman and bring the total number of partners in the UKMEA region to 162.

Our new partners are:

Akin Akinbode (ETI Construction, Milton Keynes)

Akin specialises in the resolution of engineering, construction and PFI-related, and facilities management disputes including dispute avoidance and ADR, adjudication, arbitration and litigation.  Akin is also highly experienced in acting as a "project counsel" on live construction and engineering projects.

Dan Bodle (International Arbitration, London)

Dan specialises in resolving disputes in the energy and TMT sectors, primarily in international arbitration. He has extensive experience of complex, high value claims with an international element. Dan also frequently advises clients in a strategic role prior to the commencement of a formal dispute.

Andrew Cheung (General Counsel, London)

Andrew Cheung is Dentons UKMEA General Counsel.  He is a part of the UKMEA Policy & Planning Board and sits on the Firm's Regional and Global Risk Committees and Operations Committee. He also acts as the Firm's Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officer, Claims Officer, Data Protection Officer, Anti-Bribery Officer and FSA Compliance Officer. In addition to being responsible for regulatory compliance and risk management.  Andrew also advises clients on complex international financial sanctions, anti-bribery and anti-money laundering issues and compliance programmes.

Anna Copeman (IP, London)

Anna's practice includes all aspects of intellectual property law, both contentious and non-contentious, advising clients on the protection and exploitation of their valuable IP portfolios across a wide range of industries.  Her contentious IP work ranges from providing strategic client advice to resolve disputes at an early stage, to representing clients in IP infringement court actions.  Her non-contentious IP work includes advising on the creation, assignment, licensing and securitisation of different IP rights, with projects including technology development, software licensing, manufacturing and distribution arrangements, brand licensing and data sharing.

Andrew Figgins (Energy, Transport and Infrastructure, Oman)

Andrew has extensive experience in the oil and gas sector, including 12 years in-house with BP in the UK, Africa, the Caspian and the Middle East.  Prior to joining Dentons in October 2013, Andrew was General Counsel with government-owned Oman Shipping Company SAOC. Andrew leads the ETI team of 6 lawyers in Muscat, and advises on major capital projects through the energy value chain, as well as in the construction, transport and infrastructure sectors.

Ian Fox (Restructuring & Insolvency, London)

Ian's practice includes all areas of contentious insolvency work including major commercial litigation. He also has significant experience in restructuring and non-contentious insolvency work and has advised insolvency practitioners, lenders, corporates and directors in relation to insolvency issues in sectors including energy, real estate, leisure, retail, media and sport.

Gurbinder Grewal (ETI Construction, Milton Keynes)

Gurbinder's practice focuses on resolving construction and engineering disputes both domestically and internationally through arbitration, adjudication, litigation or alternative dispute resolution. He typically acts for owners, developers and contractors in a wide range of sectors.  Gurbinder is also experienced in avoiding disputes by acting as a “project counsel” on live construction and engineering projects.

Roy Pinnock (Real Estate, London)

Roy's practice covers planning and compulsory purchase issues arising from complex development, strategic land opportunities, urban extensions, tall building and mixed use redevelopment. He is also a specialist in Community Infrastructure Levy, viability and environmental assessment.  His experience includes guiding investors, developers, funders and Government clients through the consenting process for major regeneration projects and controversial developments.

Andrew Thornton (Tax, London)

Andrew's practice covers all aspects of direct tax and value added tax and he has specialist knowledge of tax in the energy sector (oil and gas, climate change and renewables), asset finance, financial markets, funds and tax litigation matters.
