Berlin—Global law firm Dentons is pleased to announce that Matthias Santelmann has joined as a Corporate partner in its Berlin office. Santelmann will further strengthen the Corporate practice working with Christof Kautzsch and he will focus on transactions in regulated markets.

Santelmann joins us from WilmerHale where he started his career in 2000. He mainly represents strategic and financial investors on transactions in regulated industries, especially in the energy sector. He advised a large energy provider in Southwest Germany on several acquisitions and sales of strategic shares, among others. Santelmann also specializes in Venture Capital and Private Equity.

Most recently he advised a Californian PE fund on its investment in a German automotive supplier. Santelmann’s transactions experience goes beyond M&A deals and also comprises of real estate transactions. In the past he advised several UK funds on the acquisition of commercial real estate portfolios. Additionally, Santelmann was appointed as public notary in 2012.

This new hire increases Dentons’ German Corporate Group to 24 lawyers, including 13 partners. Santelmann is the third partner in a row to join Dentons Germany this year: He follows the experienced compliance and restructuring lawyer Rainer Markfort, who joined in January. Arne Friel, who joined in the beginning of February, specializes in Restructuring and is, like Santelmann, a partner and notary public.
