Cape Town—Three Dentons South Africa partners, Noor Kapdi, Shahid Sulaiman and Zithu Twala, have been awarded the Presidential Award from the Cape Law Society for their work in establishing the first black law firm in South Africa with an international affiliation.  The partners were presented the award at the Cape Law Society's award ceremony held in Cape Town on 4 November 2016.

In 2014, Dentons, together with Noor Kapdi, Shahid Sulaiman and Zithu Twala and their law firm, KapdiTwala, launched Dentons in South Africa.  The launch of Dentons in South Africa marked the first time a global law firm has joined with a Level 1 Black Economic Empowerment law firm.  The South African offices in Cape Town and Johannesburg continue to hold a Level 1 status, and are 100 per cent owned by local partners and led by Managing Partner Noor Kapdi.

Earlier this year, corporate and commercial lawyer Simla Ramdayal was promoted to partner.
