For the ninth consecutive year, Dentons has been named one of Canada's Best Diversity Employers, reinforcing the strength of the Firm’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Canada's Best Diversity Employers recognizes employers across Canada that have exceptional workplace diversity and inclusion programs. After reviewing thousands of applications, the selection committee took a closer look at each short-listed candidate's programs to determine how they compared to those of other employers in the same field, addressing five major employee groups: women, members of visible minorities, persons with disabilities, aboriginal peoples, and lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans individuals.

Dentons has engaged in a number of initiatives to build a diverse and inclusive work environment, which led to this honour, including the following:

• Implementing and enforcing national Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Policy and Procedures to provide specific reference to how the LGBT community can expect to experience the workplace, and created a guide that provides employees who are ready to "come out" with resources for immediate and ongoing support;
• Developing new affinity groups to address the interests and values of our communities. The groups will focus on creating networking and leadership platforms, and building a sense of community and cultural understanding;
• Improving the gender diversity of its senior leadership team and Board of Directors (45 percent of the Firm's Canadian board are currently women); and
• Promoting advancement through internal policies and pipelines that provide sponsorship and mentorship for female employees.
