Cybersecurity and privacy expert John McCauley, Esq., CIPP US, has been named to Indiana Gov. Eric J. Holcomb’s Executive Council on Cybersecurity. As a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP-US), he assists clients in identifying, evaluating and managing risks associated with privacy and information security practices. John advises clients on GLB, HIPAA, COPPA, CAN-SPAM, FCRA, VPPA, GDPR, security breach notification laws, and other U.S. state and federal privacy and data security requirements. He provides extensive advice on cybersecurity risks, incidents and policy issues, including proactive cyber incident readiness. John also conducts all phases of online and offline privacy assessments and information security policy audits.

John has joined government (local, state and federal), private-sector, military, research and academic stakeholders to collaboratively move Indiana’s cybersecurity to the next level. The council is led by the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, Indiana Office of Technology, Indiana State Police and the Indiana National Guard. The cross-sector body of subject-matter experts form an understanding of Indiana’s cyber risk profile, identify priorities, establish a strategic framework of Indiana’s cybersecurity initiatives and leverage the body of talent to stay on the forefront of the cyber risk environment. More information on the Executive Council can be found here.

John has also been approved as a member of InfraGard. InfraGard is a partnership between the FBI and members of the private sector. The InfraGard program provides a vehicle for seamless public-private collaboration with government that expedites the timely exchange of information and promotes mutual learning opportunities relevant to the protection of Critical Infrastructure. With hundreds of vetted members nationally, InfraGard's membership includes business executives, entrepreneurs, military and government officials, computer professionals, academia and state and local law enforcement; each dedicated to contributing industry specific insight and advancing national security. John is a member of the Cyber Finance Working Group focusing on the protection of financial institutions.
