Dentons announces that Gary R. Thorup, shareholder in the Salt Lake City office, has been inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel.

Thorup’s tax practice is mainly a case and controversy practice representing clients before the IRS, the Utah State Tax Commission and Utah courts. He is also involved in tax planning and does some work in the nonprofit/tax-exempt entity area. Thorup spends considerable time in lobbying executive and legislative branch officials in the state of Utah.

The American College of Tax Counsel is a professional association of tax lawyers. Membership is limited to a maximum of 700 tax lawyers across the United States. Every member, called a “fellow”, is nominated by their peers and must pass a rigorous screening process. Fellows are recognized for their extraordinary accomplishments and professional achievements and for their dedication to improving the practice of tax law.
