During the session recently held in the Patagonian Parliament, the local representatives unanimously approved the creation of Comprehensive Hydrogen Board (Mesa Integral del Hidrógeno) aimed at developing public policies promoting the production of green hydrogen in the Patagonian Region of Argentina.

This initiative was introduced by the representative of the Province of Santa Cruz who highlighted the importance of a trial hydrogen plant in Pico Truncado, a pioneer in the field. He also highlighted the significant investments that will be made to produce green hydrogen in such province. The representative of the Province of Rio Negro also mentioned the measures adopted to facilitate the production of green hydrogen as well as the large investments expected to be made.

Prior to the approval by the Patagonian Parliament, the initiative was submitted before the Legislature of the Province of Santa Cruz, where it received strong support.

This proposal expressly highlights the importance of “acknowledging and discussing the various technologies available for the production, storage and transport of the hydrogen, costs and logistics, among other aspects. We must think about the potential of using hydrogen as an energy vector, as a fuel for transportation and as a source for heat and electricity”.

In sum, the Comprehensive Hydrogen Bord is a promising initiative that will serve as a forum to discuss the public policies and incentives required to produce green hydrogen in the Patagonian Region.

Through the concerted efforts of the southern provinces, Argentina can become a key player in the sector contributing to the development of a sustainable economy.
